HBA is a controller/network card which connects a host system (computer) to other network and storage devices, primarily used with controllers that connect to SCSI, Fibre Channel and eSATA devices


Linux related commands

  • Identify your HBAs in Linux:
    • lspci | grep "Fibre Channel" or lspci -nn | grep "Fibre Channel"
    • ls /sys/class/fc_host/
  • Fibre Channel LUN Scan or rescan-scsi-bus.sh:
    • echo "1" > /sys/class/fc_host/host1/issue_lip (No output from command)
    • echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host1/scan
    • lsblk -S


  • lssd command part of HP fibreutils package

fc_host

/sys/class/fc_host/host1/port_state [Online]
/sys/class/fc_host/host1/fabric_name
/sys/class/fc_host/host1/node_name (Used for mapping in your storage array)
