git config get and set repository or global options

• git config --list
• git config --list --show-origin

• Set your username:

git config --global user.name "FIRST_NAME LAST_NAME"

• Set your email address:

git config --global user.email "[email protected]"

• git config --local credential.helper "" (will prompt for username and password)

Turn off the SSL validation

• git config --global http.sslVerify false

Git indexing fails due to bad pack header :

• git config --global pack.windowMemory "100m"
• git config --global pack.SizeLimit "100m"
• git config --global pack.threads "1"

• git config pull.rebase false # merge (the default strategy)
• git config pull.rebase true # rebase
• git config pull.ff only # fast-forward only

git config --global core.askpass "git-gui--askpass"
(no output)
